this cute little "j" notebook is my photography journal where i write down notes, ideas, things i learn & what not relating to photography. i love looking back at the things that i have written down & to see how far i have come in my craft. journals of any kind are such a cool thing, don't you think? they reveal so much about a person!
as a little girl i kept a diary that i wrote in from time to time. it had a lock & key so that no one would be able to read my deepest secrets. looking back on it now, i wish i wrote down more so that i could remember the important things that were occurring in my life at the time. i love being able to remember such innocent & funny things that i deemed important enough to jot down as a 10 year old.
i like to think that this blog serves the same purpose as my personal diary did then, but i know that i don't share very intimate & personal details about my family's life on here. to me public blogs just aren't the place to completely vent about everything. maybe for some, but not me at this point in my life. but i do love that this blog is a little place to share experiences & thoughts with others, as well as a mild journal of sorts.
// i really wish i would spend a little bit of time writing in a personal journal, though.
journals are great for venting & really fun to look back on. unfortunately, for some reason i find it hard to
find time to want to sit down & write with a pen and paper these days...thanks, technology! //

how much is too much to share on your public blog? do you guys keep a journal other than your blog???
how do you stay motivated to keep writing in it?
I just got my old diary out yesterday. It was full of thoughts and memories of my husband & I's dating years..so fun to look back on those now!
ReplyDeleteahh that is so great!!! how awesome to have those memories written down.
DeleteI have a private/password protected blog that I write down journal entries in, it's mostly used for venting how I feel on certain days. It really is hard to find time to actually sit and write with pen and paper but I do try in my little notebook when the mood strikes.
ReplyDeletethats a great idea!!
DeleteI love journaling, it has helped me through some pretty rough times.
ReplyDeletejournaling really is a great form of personal therapy!
DeleteI love writing with pen and paper...there's something so soothing about it. I can't say I keep up with it super regularly (unfortunately) but it does help me sort out feelings/frustrations on certain days!

exactly! i sometimes feel frustrated with pen & paper because i can't write as fast as i type and my thoughts are just flying out but i can't jot them down quick enough it seems
DeleteI've always kept written journals, and kept them tucked away in closets as I've moved from one place to another. It's probably something I should do more regularly, but I write when I can. Sometimes I just need to write something out by hand.
ReplyDeletetotally. that's great!
DeleteI love journaling! It's probably my favorite hobby. I have shelves upon shelves full of them. And blogging is a fun way to share my journal with others!

What a wonderful idea! That little book is a treasure for always... We can learn a lot from our 'old' selves.
ReplyDeleteCute blog! I love writing in a journal! I stay motivated to write because I love the thought of seeing how I progress as a person in them.:)
ReplyDeleteI still write in a journal and blog, although I feel like I do share a few personal things on my blog. It can make it more relatable -- and some people share sweet memories on their blogs about their kids, which I absolutely love. But it's all about what works for you.
ReplyDeleteI keep a thousand journals that are all half-full, but I just love making and checking off to do lists;)

I have kept a journal since I was about 7 years old, and I LOVE them! They are so therapeutic when you just feel like venting. It's a little notebook that always agrees with you and never poses a counterargument haha. I have been pretty bad at writing lately, but at one point I got in the habit of writing in my journal right after reading my scriptures before going to bed. A good way to talk about your day, even if it is a couple sentences!
ReplyDeleteThis is SUCH a good idea! Thanks for sharing!
