san fran part 2

the second half of our trip to SF was full of food, exploring and bay to breakers! bay to breakers is a race that goes through the streets of San Fran and behind all of the actual runners is a massive crowd of wild individuals dressed up (others are dressed down...) having a good time. after hearing about the craziness of this event for the past few years we decided we had to see if for ourselves.

^^^ Nani was hit, to say the least ^^^
^^^ you could say we felt a little...over dressed^^^
^^^ many people come in groups & wear matching costumes ^^^

after the race we grabbed lunch down at pier 23 & explored fisherman's wharf for a little while before we had to catch our flight home. the weekend flew by way too fast, as most weekend trips do, but it was a vacation for the books! can't wait for our next wild adventure...

San Francisco

Last weekend Mark & I flew out to San Fran to meet up with my family to celebrate my brother's graduation from law school! While we were there we were the ultimate tourists & I was totally fine with that. We began our trip with a visit to Alcatraz on Friday morning.

^^^ it was a bit of a windy day out on the island ;) ^^^

From housing some of America's most wanted felons to being occupied by Native American for over a year, this tiny island has quite a bit of history lurking on it. Not to mention, the grounds of Alcatraz are just beautiful. There were tons of flowers, greenery and wild birds covering the island.

We spent the evening at our little loft where we ate tons of pizza, salad and just hung out as a family...with the most amazing massage chair ever. I will be shocked if my parents don't purchase one after how much we all used it. ;)

The next morning we all woke up bright and early & headed off to University of San Francisco to watch Marcus graduate from law school!

^^^ he did it! ^^^
 ^^^ proud mama ^^^
 ^^^ & me just being me ^^^

Congrats again, Marcus! Law school is quite an accomplishment...now onto preparing for the bar!

Stay tuned for part two of our trip to SF...

saying goodbye to friends

^^^ we were all treated to pizza for our help! where naturally we had to watch
one or two youtube videos. impossible to escape with those boys. ^^^

mark & i are so sad to see some of our best friends move out of provo. maryclaire, nate, mark and myself were all friends before we ever got married, so needless to say these two have been our favorite little married couple to hang out with for the past 9 months. i don't think there was a single week that we didn't see the cooks at least once, and sometimes it was more like 3 or 4 nights a week. from cooking fun meals together and watching episodes of madmen to sports games galore and trips to color me mine, this couple has made this past year so much fun for us. but as much as we will miss living 5 minutes away, we are thrilled for them to move back to arizona and start a whole new chapter of their lives.

i always joke about never wanting to visit arizona again (i can't do that kind of heat), but if it means i get to see these two i guess i can make a trip out there once or twice. ;) (uhoh, what did i just promise?????)

we love you guys!!!!! and miss you already!

how about a PB&J rice cake...

GUYS, this is my favorite little snack. i'm sure we all remember classic PB&J sandwiches from back in elementary school, & well...they are back!! sort of.

i remember reading in some health magazine that women who eat peanut butter as a part of their diet actually weigh less...when i told my mom this she kind of gave me that 'are you crazy' look, but i think 1 tablespoon of peanut butter won't hurt ya & it may even mean you are skinnier than you thought? ;)

but honestly a rice cake with a thin layer of PB & some homemade raspberry jam? perfection. {especially when you use your mother in law's amazing raspberry jam!} this is one of my favorite mid-morning snacks or a quick breakfast when i am running out the door. & ya i could use a piece of whole wheat toast, but sometimes i would rather keep things lighter and save myself an extra 100 calories. >> rice cakes are only 35 calories! depending on how much PB&J you like, this snack can be as little as 150 calories & will fill up an empty tummy quite nicely.

what are your favorite snack foods????
